Early Winter?

So, it's rather chilly for the early part of October, eh. Will it warm up again anytime soon? How about our Indian Summer? I'm thinking the answer is "NO".

Today, Wednesday October 14th 2009... we saw our first winter bird arrive at one of the feeders out back. A White Breasted Nuthatch! So wonderful to see again but a little early I think. I was betting on the Dark Eyed Juncos to be the first winter birds arriving and even said exactly that 2 days ago. Not the case this year.

Let's see how long till our first snowfall. We've had frost. Monday morning the bird baths were frozen solid. It's just a matter of time...

The Nuthatch was not co-operating with my attempts to take his picture but here he is...

Good ol' fuzzy butt! He showed me it a few times... not his best side. LOL!

It sure has been chilly, hasn't it?

All I see is squirrels scampering around.

Thanks Rob. I was out of town and offline quite a bit during the Summer due to death of 2 family members. Mentally, physically and emotionally exhausting dealing with everything! :*(

Hot Chocolate and Baileys is awesome, same with hot chocolate and Amaretto. Yum!

Sorry to hear about the deaths. :(

We've experienced four this year, not family members, but people I know and very good friends to my parents. Sad for them to see as they get older and their pals pass away.

Thanks Rob. I'm truly sorry to read about your losses. Last December just before Christmas, I lost my father then my maternal grandmother. This year, my paternal grandmother (and final grandparent) then my uncle.

Ever since my 40's hit, family members are dropping off like flies. Cripes! I'm really hoping that 2010 is a better year.
